Simple, basic, unpretentious and very, very Japanese, I thought we were back on Tokyo or Osaka when we stumbled into this place, looking for a quick meal before the theatre. If you're looking for fancy food or fancy surrounds, forget it, but if you like excellent home style Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price, this place is hard to beat. The sushi bento box was tasty and generous: succulent chicken pieces in crisp batter, tempura veggies and a single prawn (also crisp outside and cooked just right within), green salad, potato salad, a few sashimi slices, and the rest. The sushi and sashimi platter was also excellent. The pieces of fish may not be the most elegantly sliced you ever saw, but they are utterly fresh. And the service is quick and pleasant. A gem.
